In the article '8 problems that may limit the site's profitability', we mentioned that the most important thing is choosing the right set of ad networks for your traffic and ad formats.

The most profitable and popular ad type is a Popunder and its "younger brother" Interstitial. If you want to expose ads by clicking on links with target = '_ blank', your choice is definitely Interstitial. In general, the format has worked well, but not many networks support it so far, and the fillrate is not brilliant.

My advice is to use a reasonable mix of Popunder and Interstitial. For example, Interstitial on the main page and the play button, and popunder on the related videos. Also, to avoid Google's ban, I recommend not using popunder in the Chrome browser.

Banners

A few words on best practices for banner spots placement.

Do not place banners in the footer of the site. Ad networks will not count most impressions and pay minimal CPM for the rest.

Place not more than 3-4 banners per page. It doesn't make sense to place more. You will earn the same money but lose your visitor's loyalty.

An excellent place for a banner is right under the site header, especially on mobile devices. CPM of such banners will be 2-3 times higher than the beloved natives'. I recommend placing such a header banner on every page of your website. A banner under the player is also very productive.

VAST (in-video and slider):

Some webmasters don't use ads in the player but expose up to 10 popunders per unique visitor. Yeap, setting video ads may look a bit more technically complicated and requires a player that supports displaying ads (usually, it needs paid subscription). The same goes for embedded videos.

We at AdSpyglass have developed our own player for video ads. It is placed on top of any player on the site, shows ads, and transfers control to the website's video player after the end of the advertisement. With the help of the AdSpyglass player you can show video ads with any video player, and even without it (insert video ads like an in-content banner or modal window).

In-page push

New format. Visually it's similar to the native push notification, but in fact, it's just a banner. The subscription database cannot be accumulated, and your in-page push income will be proportional to the traffic on your website. But it works in any browser and on all devices. In-page push shows 2-3 times higher CPM than regular banners. And it is approved by Google.

AdSpyglass DSP (Traforama). What is it, and how does it work?

We at AdSpyglass believe that every website owner should be able to sell traffic from ad spots on his site to a direct advertiser without intermediaries taking 30%+ commissions.

If an advertiser is registered in AdSpyglass DSP via your referral link, all your transactions will be 0-fee. You will receive 100% of the money that the advertiser spends. You won't need to think about payments, statistics, etc.

Advertisers will be able to buy required segments of your traffic at a competitive price. If an Ad Network pays more, the traffic goes to the Ad Network. All your direct advertisers will also have to compete for your traffic; thereby, the rate will increase!

It is very convenient, and moreover, very profitable!

Give it a try 😉
